Flinders Branch

Branch History

The Flinder's Branch began on the 12th of August 1990 at Port Augusta and its first weekend sugar craft weekend was on the 29th and 30th of September 1991 at Whyalla.

The founding member was Bev Wilkinson, with Elaine Keatley, Rosalyn Northey, Margaret Siviour, Christine Fry, Kay Moroney, Phillis Brereton, Phillis Davis and Marlene Packhard being inaugural members.

The ladies all had an interest in cake decorating and sharing information which led them to where they now have their meetings at Crystal Brook at the CWA Hall on Bowman Street.

 Meeting Format

We meet on the third Sunday of odd months of the year and begin at 10am with freshly baked scones (most meetings) and a cuppa. The exception being is at the beginning of each New Year when we meet on the 1st Sunday in February and the 3rd Sunday in March and every other odd month after that --being May -July -September and November.

We welcome new members and encourage like minded decorators to come and see us and join in --first attendance is at no cost but our meeting entry fee is $5.00 per meeting.

We are a happy bunch of country ladies who come from Jamestown -Gawler -Moonta - Port Hughes -Whyalla - Port Augusta and Crystal Brook so are happy to car pool on Meeting days and take a shared lunch that will highlight county women's cooking skills.

We all enjoy sharing ideas and having a hands on work shop to extend our creative knowledge so if you are new to cake decorating and sugar work and need to learn or have been decorating at home and want to join in and share your wealth of knowledge we welcome you with open arms.
